UNC-Chapel Hill ROTC Units Honor Vets
The cadets of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ROTC units invite you to the 2013 Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Monday, November 11, 2013. Local Students Honor CH Veterans – Nov 12th
November 12th – St. Thomas More School. St. Thomas More School has invited Armed Forces personnel and veterans to participate in and be honored at a ceremony at the school on Tuesday, November 12th (the day after Veterans’ Day). This is a very big event and, as you can see from these photos from 2012, everyone participates. It is a fun event that will create a few tears as the youngest students hoist Old Glory and salutes our flag. Continue reading
School Honors Veterans
Grady Brown Elementary School in Hillsborough is honoring local veterans on Tuesday, November 12th, at 1 p.m. This annual event is put on by the students and includes comments from the children and singing of patriotic songs. The event is followed by a reception. Continue reading

North Carolina Department Revitalizing Post Development
The American Legion Department of North Carolina has launched a new 5-Year Plan for Post Development. The program was announced this month by State Commander Patricia Harris. The plan focuses on building better American Legion awareness state-wide. Continue reading

Why I Belong to the American Legion
As this writer completes another set of stories about our Post’s activities in Chapel Hill, I am reminded of the value of an active, vibrant post in our community. No, not just in our community, but in towns, villages, cities and counties throughout our nation.
